Erklärvideos im Sachunterricht als Herausforderung für Lehrkräfte? : eine Befragung von Lehrkräften zum Einsatz und zur Erstellung von Erklärvideos

Kurzfassung/Abstract

This study examines the use of educational videos in elementary science and civic education, focusing on teachers' self-efficacy and interest in using and creating these videos. While explanatory videos have gained attention for their educational potential, their use in primary classrooms is still underresearched. A quantitative survey of 294 elementary teachers in Bavaria was conducted to assess their self-efficacy in selecting and creating educational videos. Results show that teachers feel more confident in selecting pre-made videos than in creating their own. Interest in the medium is generally high. Teachers also use pre-made educational videos more frequently than self-produced ones, likely due to challenges in creating personalized content. The findings emphasize the need for professional development to improve teachers' skills in creating explainer videos and selecting high-quality resources. The study highlights the growing relevance of educational videos and the importance of supporting teachers in their effective use.
