Kurzfassung/Abstract

The article describes the current state of digitalization and IT use in social economy. The situation presents a mixed picture. While the use of classical IT for internal organizational processes has been accelerated in the last years, recipient-oriented digital technologies are still not widely adopted. Recent developments in legislation, as well as innovative products from startups, are bringing additional impetus for digitalization to the sector. A major obstacle is the lack of legally standardized regular financing for this purpose. The future will be characterized by further expansion of IT penetration, but above all, by an increased utilization of Artificial Intelligence. The extent of its manifestation is currently difficult to predict.
