Kurzfassung/Abstract
In this chapter Elisabeth Kals and Markus Müller give an overview of approaches to promote education for sustainability in a variety of target groups and contexts. They discuss empirical analyses of the motives of sustainable thinking and behavior that showcase their strong moral dimension, and they argue that these findings should be reflected in evidence-based interventions. Embedded in political developments on a national and international scale, such transdisciplinary linking of research and practical approaches can contribute to an effective promotion of sustainable behavior and thus to a broader implementation of sustainable development.
