Kurzfassung/Abstract
What role can constructive journalism, a journalistic concept stemming from positive
psychology, potentially play in the effective reporting of the climate crisis? This text aims to address this question and to explore potential avenues regarding the constructive reporting of climate change. Through attaining an understanding of the core principles and elements of constructive journalism by reviewing relevant literature, three avenues where the concept can play a meaningful role in terms of reporting associated with climate change were identified. These include (i) highlighting local tales of resilience, (ii) focusing on individual efforts in the fight against climate change, and (iii) initiating and moderating dialogue with affected parties. The importance of tailoring climate change-based messages as well as challenges associated with practicing constructive journalism, consequently the identified three avenues, in various socio-political settings are discussed.
