Kurzfassung/Abstract
Journalism can do much more than being the account of gloomy events that transpire with respect to conflicts and wars taking place all over the globe. Other than simply informing audiences, the field can play a bridging role between those that maintain opposing perspectives, hence bringing them closer and facilitating a rational discussion upon pertinent issues. This academic effort explores various journalistic concepts that carry the potential of playing this bridging role among publics during conflict situations. The concepts of peace journalism, conflict-sensitive journalism, public journalism, discursive journalism, constructive journalism, and citizen journalism were identified as relevant to be practiced during conflict and war reporting, hence highlighting their social benefit, and warranting further understanding linked to their systematic practice.
