Affective connection to nature

Kurzfassung/Abstract

Affective connection to nature can be defined as a positive emotional bond with nature which is more or less consciously experienced by the subject. The construct has not gained attention in empirical literature until recently, although it has long been used as a strategic approach within environmental education. In this text, the theoretical background of affective connection is analyzed, measurement instruments are described, and intervention strategies to promote the connection are derived. In this respect, the text offers an overview on the current research on this special bonding with nature.
