Kurzfassung/Abstract

The globalization of rural space is increasingly experienced through an amenity boom. In Cafayate this boom brings forward a new particularity: the construction of gated communities combined with wine production. Real estate agents promote the uniqueness of high altitude wine production in order to attract national and international clients in search for the best places for recreation and real estate investment. The article analyses the causes and consequences of this particular amenity boom and its impacts on a local level.
